Nokia Ovi App Store
The Situation
Our team’s success with the experimental ‘MOSH’ mobile social marketplace led Nokia to again engage Schematic in a $9 million effort to develop the Ovi Store ecommerce platform. The Ovi Store works on over 100 different Nokia devices using 3 mobile operating systems and provides mobile carrier billing in 7 languages.
The Impact
The Ovi Store won the Mobile Entertainment Forum’s 2009 Award for Technology Innovation. By May 2010, the Ovi Store was seeing over 1 million downloads a day from an estimated 50 million users.
My Role
This was one of my babies that I worked on over several years. Working in tandem with with 3 other UXers, we developed for Symbian40, Symbian60, XHTML, and desktop UIs simultaneously. I was in charge of the publishing & analytics platform, mobile XHTML, and purchase flows.
